Recently bought the little woman one for her B-day
and have ordered dies , shellholders etc
And now need to gather some data and techniques.

I understand the wee rifle like case can be especially difficult to re-load.
Internet experts have warned me of shoulders that get stretched out...
Over working cases..

What say you?
Have you any expereince with this little speed demon?
I looking forward to the challenge ( and saving costs! )

Friend of mine just started reloading the 5.7
He says you can only reload the cases once, then dispose of them.

WHY? Is the brass too brittle? Does it crack or distort somehow more easily than other brass? I have been very curious about loading the 30grV-Tip(Hornady bullet I think). Lets really crank up the velocity.

What I learned so far:
The brass is coated with a polymer (?)
anyway, it is best not to tumble in dry hard media and remove it.
Successful re loaders wash them in a simple green solution.

The primer is ALMOST the diameter of the brass, Hornady does not make a shell plate for the Lock N Load because of the dimension. Custom ones are either too tight to cycle reliably or too loose and the case punches through.

There is a narrow window of burn rate for powder. HS 6 +/- one or two.

Not heard the one reload limit. But maybe for super hot loads it makes sense.
I plan more at the plinker level.

Some part of the brass is weakened. I'll see if I can catch up w/him this weekend and find out.

I've never loaded or shot 'em in 5.7's
but, I had necked 'em down and made .17x28's from these cases. Then loaded and fired the same one 22 times testing case life and it's still fine, I just gave up on wearing it out. I did increase the charge to 10.2gr H110 and blew one up though, so go damned easy on the loading and keep it safe as they sure won't hold up to over loading.

20gr V'max with 10.0gr AA1680.
