MrHawgYou get what you pay for. Springfields have better slides/frames than the others you listed, so that would be my choice.

lonewolf5348I did a little 1911 shopping yesterday and my finding were as followed
Taurus: for the price now $579.00 my finding were as followed, slide in the down position had play, otherwise the trigger broke crisp ,sight need to take a feel for them
Sprinffield chrome model $679.00 slide was tight as a drum no play at all barrel bushing excellent, trigger break also crisp
Kimber $699.00 more of a base model real nice gun tight as a drum
I did not have a chance to see a RIA 1911 not on hand.
I think for the price of the taurus I would lean more for the springfield or the kimber, don't get me wtong even springfield is also made in brazil along with taurus.
I would of went for the taurus if the price tag was under $500.00 but for the asking price a few more dollars I think the springfield and kimber at the way to go.
The TOP 1911 pistoleros in the world wouldn't touch a Kimberly

The Bolt ManMy experence with the one and only Springfield Armory was a bad one. I don't have it any more.
I am sure from what I have read on the forums, that the SA I had was probably the worst of the lot and the exception to the rule for SA.
Mine was a piece of junk. Two gunsmith's couldn't fix the erratic slide velocity problem that caused failures to cycle fully to throwing brass twenty feet to the right or back over my head, to dropping empties at my feet. All with the same loads, any load and with recoil springs matched for the load.
I have and have had six other 1911's and none of them had any problems.
