If I knew then what I know now about Para I would have bought a Kimber. My Carry 9 was defective from the first round fired....would not extract.
It was returned by my distributor March 11. To date not a word. No replies to calls or to e-mails. Any company is only as good as their customer service. Para's is non existent.

Dall85Are you calling the distributor or Para direct? I had great service from Para a couple of years ago and no problems since. I did go direct to them.

billinthewildThe distributor has been great; Davidsons. But they have no control over what Para does or does not do once they send the pistol back which they promptly did.
I have called Para, as well as e-mailed them, on more than one occasion. Promises.....on the phone, but never a call back. And, no pistol. I am sure all that it needed was a new extractor.
I am surprised they do not test fire each one before they go out; so much for the "power extractor."
Anyway, off to Argentina next week and hope it will be here on my return.

billinthewildThe new pistol finally showed up late May....I am convinced it is junk. I started working on the break in process and it was jamming about every 4-5 rounds. I have 223 rounds through it as of today and tried to shoot an IPSC match with it. Now jamming every round.
Took it down last night, cleaned and lubed....same problem.
Power extractor???? Bullshit. Back it goes again.
Customer service.....poor to none.

I have to admit that my Para Carry 45 functioned flawlessly, and I really liked it. However, I had someone offer me more than I had in it, so I let it go and am kind of thankful.
After I bought mine, I discovered just how bad Para's reputation really is.
I have also read Kimber horror stories and am a little "gun shy" of them too.

billinthewildI did get a call this a.m. from them and the pistol is on its way back for repair. A problem that has developed in our great nation in the past decade or so is the lack of real customer service.
The emphasis is on selling the product, any product and then so many fail to back it up.
When - if - my pistol is returned repaired, I may just sell it and go on....but we will see....problem then remains where does one go from there for a small, 1911 actioned, carry gun.

Jeff, what Kimber horror stories are you referring to? I have two Kimbers, a 45 Target model and a Kimber Pro Carry II in 38 Super. No problems with either except that the trigger on the "Target" 45 is not a target trigger by any means! Certainly no functioning problems however.

Interested as well....if the Para does not work out, thinking about a Kimber Ultra Carry II. Have heard nothing but good things about them.
