Of you "Glock Meisters" out there tell me what you like/dislike about your Glock.

You'll like the glock. It well last you many 10 of thousands rounds. The thing to remember if you never use glocks before is that if you pull the tigger they well go bang.

That means finger off the trigger until you need it to fire.

Also to feild strip it one has to pull the trigger always remove the mag first eject the round in the chamber double check to make sure it is empty. Always point it in a safe direction before pulling the trigger to feild strip it. Never have your finger on the trigger as you holster it.

Remember if there is a round in the chamber and you pull the triggeer it well go bang.

Don't let objects get into trigger guard I know of one case where a officer caught a jacket part in the trigger guard and shot him self in the leg as he was holstering it.

Other then these warnings they work very well and last a long time.

Blocky, poorly balanced, ergonomics on the grip is all funky, trigger is cheezy/squeezy, unsupported chamber, hates reloads, they're FAT and hard to conceal.

But that's just my opinion, having owned a G-22 amongst all the handguns in my arsenal -- and it is an arsenal.

I bought one because everyone should have one plastic pistol, but I've never warmed to it. Yes it's reliable & reasonably accurate but I have to work like hell to shoot it accurately. The trigger is poor the grip angle is funky (at least for a guy used to shooting 1911s & such) but it does go bang. If you are a new shooter, the ergonomics will probably not bother you. After a few mags, I start to get the hang of it again, but you'll enjoy it. Remember to only feed it plated or jacketed ammo (another irritating issue).

On the other hand, the Springfield XD provides a fully supported chamber, much heavier slide rail lugs, loaded chamber indicator, steel trigger linkage, same grip angle as the 1911, a grip safety -- and now it's offered with a thumb safety.

I got the XD 5" Tactical with the compact grip option in 45 ACP. I put a Glock GTL 21 laser on it (Because Glock gets some things right.) -- but it's not the gun I crave shooting at the range.

It is pretty much a personal thing. I feel the same way about the XD as 45-70 does about the Glock. I like the Glocks. I competed with a 17L and put 20K rounds through it before Glock wanted it back as a "torture tested" gun. The only time it ever failed was when I forgot to clean it for a couple thousand rounds. That was in 1990.

If you are used to traditional pistols, it will take some getting used to, but otherwise it should do you well. Mine (17L) was old enough that it did not come with adjustable sights, so I added those. I still have a G19 and I like it fine. The best hand fit I ever had though, was the CZs I now have.

The grip angle of the Glock is poor for me so I don't have one. The standard 9mm Glock is about the most reliable and durable pistol on the market. Not true for the .40 as the ISP have given up their .40s and returned to the 9mm because of reliability problems.Keep yours cleaned and lubed and it will last a long time !!

That said (above) were I in the trenches with the mud, blood, and crud flying, Glock would be high up on the list.

But hey! I don't like large breasted women either, so what's that say about personal preferences?
