I handled the pistol last year at the Abu Dhabi outdoor show.

Its a service pistol targeting the armed forces market.

The sights are interesting concept that will allow for quick point shooting but not sure how accurate it would be at 20 yards +

I did not shoot this pistol. Would be interesting to take it for a spin on IPSC range.


But overall it did not impressed me a lot.

This sight is already used in IPSC but keeping a rear sight. I don't know why they removed it. Nothing like training anyway. I remember a Grand Prix I shot having lost the front sight in the last stage. I made my best time. LOL

Seems to me that they have really taken an original look at handguns and what they are used for. IPSC is not one of these uses! The takedown feature is very nice. I would suspect that fast repeat shots at 21 feet or less would be the main criteria that they used. The grip seems rather large, in line with service pistol use, but not for concealed carry in the USA.

The rear sights are machined into the slide and there is no adjustment.

The Red optic fiber is good just don't know how long it will last as you need a strong housing for it.

If I were ever to design a handgun it would be tested on the IPSC stage before going into production.

As a South African RO I have seen way to many of these type of pistols giving problems and breaking during stages.

I shot a large number of rounds with Glock, Walther 99 and Stey M but I never used a polymer pistol in IPSC. I started both with a Delta I prepared with Rockwell 58 C Caspian slide and all the other modifications, it passed 135,000 rounds without any problem.Then I switched to revolver with a SW 29 I prepared. Finally, I stick to my SW 610 for hundred of thousands of rounds. What a pleasure to rank on top of dozens of tupperware pistols with a wheelgun in overall ranking.
I believe the Caracal should be a good reliable pistol basing my opinion on its cousin the Steyr.

Yes, the fiber sight is a good idea but personaly I stick to KISS. I prefer plain sights and I believe all service pistols should be equiped with night sights.



The 99 C is a good choice for CCW



and the 990 a natural choice for a wheelgun fan.

in order to answer to a few questions I received:

1) Yes, the Caracal pistol has a fully supported chamber.

2) The holster seen in Visier and a few other magazines is the Ghost III modular system holster

probably a lot cheaper to build, which is about the only criteria besides caliber the military specs anymore.
