Auto Ordnance 1911s
How well made are the new Auto Ordnance 1911s? Are they good quality handguns? i want a 1911 that looks exactly like the ones the U.S. Military used during WWII, Korea and Vietnam and the Auto Ordnance 1911s are the most authenic looking ones i've seen.

I saw them when they were first introduced. Internal parts were not good and replacement of the sear and hammer was necessary to get a good trigger pull.

Don't know how the current production is, but I would look at a Springfield Armory handgun instead.

Auto-Ord 45s are now made by Kahr Arms (they bought Auto-Ord a few years back). I have one ait is appears to be a very well made pistol, I use it for conventional pistol competition, With 230 hardball match loads, it will shoot Xs all day long (although I can't). Only mods were Bo-mar adjustable rear and wider front sight...

I had a mid 80s A-O 45 and it was a gun ineed of lots of smithing to get to work well and shoot accurately.

I think quality of pre-Kahr and post-Kahr A-Os is beyond comparison.
