Has anyone inspected this rifle? Thoughts? comments? Is the price in line? It would make a great pig gun wouldnt it!!

Looks like a twin to Paul's 470. I see what appears to be a sliver of wood missing behind the action and some screws that need correcting, a little rust, but that's about all I can tell from the photos. Bores, bores and bores are the three primary things that need to be evaluated.

Most guns sold at Cabelas are considerably overpriced. The key is to watch when they mark them down. They have an in-house aging system that flags them when on the shelf for X days. Some of the markdowns are considerable, and bring them from overpriced to underpriced.

Mississippie-- ya I looked at it-- when I ask Ron the gun manager if he knew about the regulation-- he said yes frank the guy that brought it in says it is regulated out to 200 yards --so I say Christ Ron what are you talking about did you mean 50 yds or 70 yds or what--- he shut up and left at that point-- these guys don,t know there ass from fat meat about this stuff --one would want to shoot it to see if it is regulated --and even then at what load --and how can I do that if they can,t take it out of the store-- THE TUBES LOOKED TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE

N E 450 No2

Gentlemen

As most of you know I have a British 450 No2.

It is my favorite rifle and it is a great calibre...

However, IF I was going to buy a new made double in a .458 bore I would get a 450 3 1/4", as Hornaday is making brass amd ammo at a very reasonable price. Same goes for the 475 No2, much better to get a new double in 470 IMHO.

Personally I refer a .458 bore double to a .47 cal double as there are a lot of low cost .458 bullets.

Using the 75% rule my 450 No2 shoots 350 Hornadays perfectly and they work great on deer and wild pigs.

There is no difference in performance between any of the Nitro rounds in the 450 to 476 calibre group IMHO.

There is nothing wrong with buying an original British double, in any of the Nitro calibres, as long as you can get brass and bullets for it. Just lay in a big supply and you are good to go.
