FYI, I called and talked to the folks at William Evans this morning. It appears that my rifle (.470 NE) was built in 1909. It was built, along with a takedown Mannlicher Schoenauer in .375H&H, for an individual named G. Laird. They were very helpful in looking the information up.

Now you need to take a trip to London and see the day book. Are they still located on St. James?
