range results 470 Hornady brass loads
range results 470 Hornady brass loads
I fired 8 shots over my chrony today. 106gr IMR4831 under Woodleigh soft. 2168-2206fps. This is the same ballpark as with Norma brass. About 50fps faster than Hornady or Federal factory loads. I havn't shot for regulation yet, but since velocities are about the same as with Norma brass, I don't expect any problem.
So do both brands have the same water volume?

Will-
I haven't checked water volume, but the Hornady case weighs 20 grains more than the Norma. Kind of a surprise to me, as in 416 Rigby, the Norma is heavier than the Hornady by 17 grains. The same loads also produced the same velocity in the 416.
I think the huge case volumes of these cartridges has something to do with the big "fudge factor."
OK, enough being lazy. The Hornady held 148gr H2O and the Norma 150. Pretty close.
Can't see that you could see any difference at the range.

Exactly. It seems the only differance is the price, and, with any luck, case life.

NitrodaveI can't see any brand of .470NE brass having a shorter case life than Norma. My Norma's had a big stretch ring just above the rim, on the first firing. I still have 300 new ones, but won't buy any more.
