British Double Rifle, 450 BPE. London proofs on barrel flats and
action; late 19th century; high quality, yet no makers name. Engraving on
action, locks, underlever, screws, hammers. Rear of action stippled to
reduce glare. Rebounding hammers and extractors. Screws are properly
aligned fore & aft. Considerable bright case color remains on action with
some original lacquer. 26 inch steel (not damascus) barrels; bores are
like new with no darkness or pitting. Exterior 80+% blue on barrels.
Original finish on quality walnut stocks, the fine checkering is proud..
There are a few usage dings on outside of barrels as well as on stock.
Old solid rubber recoil pad does show its age however. Rifle has been used
but very well cared for over the last 100+ years and is ready for use if
desired; no restoration done, and no amateur repairs.
