I am sure the marketing folks at Heym feel this is a great way to gain interest in their new rifle, but frankly, it left me flat. This piece reminds me of the commercial run on TV for introduction of the Infiniti Car line many years ago - the commercial never showed the car. I was not impressed then, and I am not impressed now. Sorry. Please show photos of the rifle sooner rather than later - I hope it lives up to hype you give it in the video clip.

Is there something new coming or is this the Heym that they have had in production. Mike, you have to forfeit all of your English doubles to me now. I know you have no use for them, what with you crossing over to the Heym team. Don't worry, I'll look after them like a good friend would.

I too have shot the rifle. This will truly be an October surprise. I hope everyone has their child support, maintenance/alimony, mortgage, Christmas shopping done. Otherwise we are all done for.

The quest for a truly English best rifle without the sticker shock? I have my doubts...

..did I miss it in the video..are we talking sidelock or boxlock here?

Boxlock . . . it is definitely a big step in the right direction in terms of taking double rifle design and style from the Teutonic, European style that has predominated the modern manufacture double rifles to something more akin to a traditional English style.

Well, that's a good sign..the funky shape of the current boxlock never grew on me. My rifle is a good quality hunting double but it always left me wanting.

We all got a sneak peck at the Heym USA shoot. We are all Heym owners, so are we biased; the answer is yes. I am baised to my GMC truck. This does not keep me from admiring a new Ford.
We did receive free hamburgers for our endorsement. My wife laughed out loud when she saw me spot. I wished they would have cut mine, because I sound like a hillbilly robot. At the very least, have let me keep my hat on.

My guess is Heym USA is holding back the rifle until DSC.

Too much caffeine? Why not just be patient and appreciate that after beating on the double rifle manufacturers to stop making rifles that look and feel European (scalloped receivers, beavertail forearms, thick closed pistol grips, etc.) and start making rifles that are more English in style (squared back receivers, splinter forearms, thinner and more open in the grip and buttstock, tear drops, etc.), one is making an attempt to do so. Then we complain because the roll out is not done the way everyone wants it. Sheesh tough crowd.

Just for the record..I'm not complaining. I'm simply skeptical...I've heard these promises of an "English" gun before from various manufactures and they have all come up short. You've seen the evidence and I haven't. So until then I'll be unsure of the result. I'm rooting for it to be everything we have all wanted it to be and more.... if it is, I might lay some money down at DSC. We shall see.

Is it a 1935 Holland & Holland Royal . . . no. Is it a big improvement over scalloped receivers, semi-beavertail forearms, thick pistol grips with palm swell, overbuilt butt stocks . . . absolutely. A good solid step forward in my view.

I think when you lay your hands on the new Heym, you will be impressed. Will it be what you are looking for, I can't say. But it is very nice.

Maybe IT is this one, Mark sullivian brand New heym double, IT is a New modell , that had more english/Holland & Holland style to the stock and sights and so on.

That I think that is the Mark Sulivan addition. That package, for lack of a better term, was introduced around 2013. It is not the rifle being teased by Heym here.

No this is not the 2013. This is the New mark sullivian special. Heym put out the pictures of on the german heym Page in june 2016.

I do not disputed that sir. However, you can go on YouTube and see MS's 577 MS edition from 2013 or 2014. He says in the video that Heym is taking orders for the MS sub-model.

My biggest problem with the video is that MJines' voice doesn't match the one I use when I read his posts.

As far as the rifle itself, I'm just happy in this day and age of hand-wringing, pearl-clutching despair, a rifle company actually listened to their customers and put money and time into trying to fulfill their desires. Not a bad thing in my opinion.

Mr. McKay: You are correct the MS edition is not the teaser vid posted here. I was referring to another YouTube vid where MS introduces the MS edition back in 2013 or 2014. In that vid MS describes his approach to buff hunting and shooting doubles on game. He also introduces the MS edition and states Heym will build you one just like it.

Not trying to be argumentative; just explaining my position on why this is not the MS edition and why MS edition is not new.

I wonder what "donor rifle" was used to take measurements and dimensions? I'm sure it wasn't just one box lock of any particular English maker, but I'd be more than interested to know the rifle/rifles used as a jumping off point.

Westley Richards would be were I'd start if I was copying a boxlock....I wanna know the story Damnit!!!
