hunteratheartSabatti Help?
Larry,
The thread has really wandered in a different direction from when you started it....
Did you make a decision and get it or not?

The problem with the Sabatti's is that the short cuts show up sometime. My 500 that I was so pleased with had the ribs pop loose after about 1000 rounds. Cabelas would not help and just sent me to EAA for the repairs. They have had the gun a long time and keep telling me they are going to send barrels back to factory for repair. This really worries me because how are they going to regulate the barrels without the receiver? I guess they will put them on another receiver to do that. Why wouldn't they send the whole gun back? Anyway as happy as I was with my 500 now I would not recomend them as I think there are just way too many issues with them. I will keep my gun because I don't think it will sell very easy. That is if I ever get it back. Some of these guns shoot really good and the price is going down but I think the jury is in and the verdict is guilty of poorly making a double.
Sam
Sam if they fit your barrels to another action, it will then not be fitted to your action! They will likely just wire it and re-install the rib, then card it and re-black!
As soon as I got it back I would check the regulation immediately. The re-solder may cause a problem.

HAH, I do not presume to speak for Larry, he is quite capable of doing that for himself!
However if Cabela's agrees to a refund if it doesn't work, I would buy the rifle, and go shoot it the day I bought it. ......AND I would shoot it a lot that day!

Larry SellersI did go ahead and put the little 9.3 on layaway at the Hamburg store. That way I can wait until after DSC and the Holidays to receive the rifle and have adequate time to shoot it. Ammo ordered, dies and brass on hold until the initial shoot with the Hornady ammo that was supposed to have been used to regulate.
I have never shot a double rifle, so should be an interesting experiment. Any help as to how to actually begin the test would be helpful from those that know about these things. The only suggestion so far is to start by shooting each barrel to see how each groups and then move on.
The German stuff doesn't help me much, but don't mind a little additional chatter and info injected. Thanks for all who have helped and keep additional comments and suggestions coming.

Write down the sequence you are going to shoot things in. Helps calm the nerves
I'd get a few targets already prepared with a nice clear aiming point. Sometimes a 6 o'clock hold on the black is easier than the centre.
Get a sitting of standing rest prepared
I'd shoot at 50 yards.
I'd do R, L, R, L to start with, making sure you keep the same point of aim and taking note of where the rounds hit.
This should straight away give you an idea of what your gun is doing.
I'll come back later or I am sure someone else will add to it.

SnowwolfeLarry,
Best advice I can offer is to start about 3-4 grains under recommended loads. Put up two targets side by side at 50 yards. Load the rifle and do a fairly quick boom boom using each barrel on a different target. Then get out the paper and pencil and mark where they hit and allow the rifle to cool. Jump up a grain and do the same thing.
