Chapuis?
I had a Chapuis PH II in 470 NE and sold it. I thought it was a nice rifle. Now, I want a double again.

Chapuis seem pretty common, and affordable, by double standards. Even MidwayUSA sells them.

What is the opinion of the Chapuis? Quality, resale value, etc?

I don’t own one but I’ve shot a couple, a .470 NE and a 9.3x74. Both seemed accurate and pretty nice rifles. Dr. Scott on here owned the 9.3x74, maybe he will weigh in.

Karl, I'm pretty sure your shot my Chapuis 9.3x74R as well. I no longer have it but it was a very nice little rifle. Mine was a bit finicky regarding what it would shoot well with the scope attached but once I figured out a load, it was great. Without the scope it would digest and shoot to regulation, pretty much anything you fed it ammo wise.

Wendell, give JJ or George Caswell a call. If I remember correctly, they are both very complimentary of the Chapuis doubles.

Stocks are very long. I had to cut mine down a bit. Now when I mount the gun the sights don't quite line up perfectly. I need to use a little more cheek pressure than I am used to using. If I lose 20 pounds it may be just perfect. I also put on an RMR which will likely negate the sights not lining up just right. Most people consider them to be very good rifles. A few feel that only a Heym or an English double are good enough to warrant purchasing.

Yes, I do remember shooting it on my range. Shot several nice rifles that day, you’re always welcome to come shoot.
