375 Flanged vs 375 Flanged Magnum

I am no expert but just repeating the published information, such as from "The Big-Bore Rifle" by Michael McIntosh:

375 Flanged NE, 2 1/2":

270 gr., 2340 ft-lb.

375 Flanged Magnum NE:

270 gr./300 gr., 4060/3850 ft-lb.

The difference is obvious from Kynoch:

.375 2 1/2

SN 270 gr 1975 fps 2080 Foot/lbs

.375 Flanged Magnum NE:

SN 270 gr 2600 fps 4060 foot/lbs

The .375 H&H Flanged Magnun, the .369 Nitro Express by Purdey [also flanged] and the

Belted/Rimless .375 H&H Magnum are generally seen as being in the same league I believe.

I didn't know about the 369 NE by Purdy, or I might've built one of those instead of the 375 flanged mag! I couldn't find (or maybe couldn't afford...or maybe wouldn't afford) one (375) in a DR so I'm building it on a Ruger No 1 action and am starting the HADRSS.

OK, what's the biggest game one should tackle with the .375 2 1/2" ? Any opinions ?

Finding ammo for it!!!

No, really, I suppose with 2400 ft. lbs. it would be great for hogs, close-up deer...But, I would leave it home when going on a safari.

It was intended for use on ordinary game, and makes a nice NA double. It was widely used on dangerous game in India (it was designed as a replacement for the .303 when that caliber was banned in India in 1899), and Africa as well with some success, but that's pushing it. Elmer Keith was extremely fond of his, and that says a lot.
