1- Which electric trimmer is a good choice for my 450/400 3.25" brass?
It will be used on S&W 500 as well as everything else, like Ed Hubel's
499 HE based on a full length 450 #2 NE case. Do I have to acquire one
that's designated as a 50 BMG trimmer?
2- Can the LEE decapping die be used to remove used primers without
working the brass? I want to put brass into the vibrating cleaner with-
out the old primers in place. If not the LEE then maybe a .378 Weatherby
full length sizing die?

Idaho SharpshooterLyman offers a universal decapping die in 45 basic that will work on cases up to at least 3.25". I know, because I use it on my 45-120. I have also test driven it on my stash of once-fired Rigby .470 NE brass.
About $25 IIRC.

PeterThe Lee decapping die will not work the brass. Why not get a trim die? I have one for my 450 x 3 1/4. Just use a file.

I use the RCBS file trim die for my 450 No2 and my 450/400 3 1/4".
I run EVERY case through the die EVERY time I reload.
Once the die is adjusted properly you do not have to mess with it.

N E 450 No2Yes I crimp all to the rounds in my 450 No2 and 450/400 3 1/4" if the bullets have a crimp groove.
I seat and crimp in two steps, ie. I seat all the bullets, then go back and crimp them...
I do not crimp my 9,3x74R ammo.

MikeBurkeI use a trim die on my 470. It works fine, but they are expensive.
Have you looked at the Forster classic trimmer at Sinclairs
Forster Classic Case Trimmer
Forster's Classic trimmer is a larger version of the Original Forster Trimmer, and it is sized for trimming big bore cartridges for popular big game rifles and classic black powder calibers. The cutter shaft is larger than the Original trimmer (.522 inch diameter) and the mounting base is 6 and a half inches long. The Classic will accommodate cases from 1 and seven eights inches long through 4 and one eights inches long with case mouths up to half inch in diameter,

I recall now 400NitroExp recommending the Forster now that I think of it.
I am forgetting stuff lately with the amount of data I've sponged up...
