WR ammo

Charlie64WR ammo
.
Maybe not the right section but it's planned ammo for a 450/400 double in 3 1/4 inch
Anyone had any recent experiences with WR ammo ?
Cheers

HuviusWestley Richards or Wolfgang Romey?
I think that Westley had Wolfgang load for them in the past.

I have some experience with their ammunition.
Never did shoot any of it but I can say that the 375 Flanged Magnum of theirs I had was mostly crap.
Many with cracked shoulders and once when I dug it out a couple cases were actually fizzing from said cracks!
I don’t know what powder those particular cases were loaded with but that was quite weird!
Generally, I have heard that they load on the hot side.

jvw375A friend tried WR ammo in the same cartridge (.450/400 3 1/4") - he bought the remaining stock in SA some time ago, as a matter of fact. His rifle is a vintage William Evans boxlock in just about new condition.
After a few shots the rifle would not open and quite a few primers were severely cratered. The shots crossed as well. He's busy pulling the bullets at this time.
WAY too hot, in my opinion.

jvw375, Any idea when this was ? I am told by WR that they have run / loaded new lots with new Woodleighs from Oz. Not a cheap round at EUR 13/-
Not a lot of current info at there on this one.

jvw375WR ammo's not worth it, in my humble opinion. The longer Nitro .450/400 is a handloading round. Otherwise don't own one.

jaegerfrankLast I heard is that Wolfgang was looking for someone to buy the business.

jaegerfrank@Charlie: I would use the Hornady DGS factory ammo without hesitation and have own good experience in 450 NE with it. I am not so convinced re their softs though.

Did Hornady load 3-1/4”?
I know they made brass, right?

I swear I've seen the 3 1/4" ammo, but I do know they make the brass as I have bought a lot from Huningtons and Midway.

I think they are talking about 450/400 3.25". And yes I could have sworn I have seen Hornady ammo loaded for it.
