larryshoresFederal Premium 500 NE 570 grain Swift A - Frame
Has anyone used these? Comments?
Thanks.
Larry, I can't speak for the bullet in a 500 NE, but the Swift A-Frame is one of my favorite African bullets. Whether shooting a 150 lb Impala or an 1,800 pound Cape Buffalo, they come out looking like they're ready for a photoshoot for a magazine ad. I just used them to take a Mountain Grizzly in Alaska 2 weeks ago.

larryshoresI have used them extensively in my 375 & 416. I have always been happy with them. I have not tried the 500 NE. I am going to I think.

Maximus BrutusI'm interested in this load too as a candidate to regulate my forthcoming new .500NE double with. I note Federal also load two Barnes bullets in the caliber - a Banded solid and a Triple-Shock X.

The .500 brass arrived today. A very gentlemanly thing to send this. You have my thanks and I would like to send a check to cover postage. Can you send you post address as the box was a bit wet/damaged and I could not read your return address.
Cheers,
Cal

GanyanaLarry
Done some fairly extensive tests through both bone and gelatin. At 500 NE velocities the bullet opens perfectly for buffalo. It is a little too tough (or going too slow) for optimal performance on thin skinned game like cats. Even on a big lion I would expect a shoot through on any side on shot.
Hard to beat as a buffalo bullet and will work well for lion when thrown a bit faster (like from a .500 Jeffery)
