209jonesFAIR Iside SXS rifles
Happened to notice that FAIR released the Iside SXS as a rifle now. I assume they want to compete with Sabatti on them. Can't say as I was overly impressed with the Iside shotgun when I saw it.
They're choices in cartridge/ejector apps strike me as strange, and the short barrels. Then, they are all ready built with scope mounts? The whole concept strikes me as there is something wrong with this picture;
http://www.fair.it/eng/fucile_iside_safari.jspI was curious if they have been seen anywhere yet?
22 January 2015, 03:40
cal pappasCheap. Ugly. POS.
Designed by the Blazer team?
Entire rifle made by Dremel tools?
To be the the same league with Sabatti is not saying much.
I'd rather shoot a stainless, synthetic, fluted barrel, muzzle braked, CNC, no workmanship boat anchor than one of these abortions.
A quality double can't be built for a few thousand dollars! Or even semi-quality.
Cal
PS. I'm sorry if I held some of my feelings back.

FjoldWhat's weird is that the photo on the website link shows two guns with left handed stocks.
Single trigger, also.

You have my sincerest apology. I understand your hurt at my comments; the damage to your ego, etc. I should have realized prior to my thoughtless and rude commentary that one whose personality is a direct match to the style of a Blazer would take umbrage.
Again, I'm sorry. I will be at Dallas next year and offer to buy you dinner. It is the least I can do.
I hope our friendship is not beyond repair.

Cal,
as I am a Blaser lover too I think that I will meet up in Dallas and have the dinner with you and Biebs. I am easily offended regarding the Blaser statements from you two pipe guys and to secure equal parties on each side of the table Todd Willams should be invited as he also hates Blaser

I will on your bill order the most expensive steak and most expensive red wine ! Followed by the most exclusive French cognac
Looking forward to it already

Yours sincerely,
Morten

PondoroMorten, Morten....sell those two overpriced german abominations and buy yourself a couple of decent Mausers..
You are on the right path with your V-C, why dont you go full circle...

isn't Mauser German too ?

Just look at this - more people think that Blaser is a very suitable tool for DG hunts ...
And there is n othing wrong with precision either ...

Andre MertensI'll second that. Being an accuracy nut, I insist that all my hunting rifles (9,3's incl.) shoot sub-MOA for 5 shots. The only rifles that did so out of the box with no need to tinker on were Sauer 202's and Blaser R93's. So much said...
Blaser R93 JagdMatch .222 Rem
Blaser R93 .300 Win Mag
Blaser R93 9,3x62
Sauer 202 .30-06 & 7x64 bbls.

dpcdHas anyone actually seen one of these or is this just another example of denigrating something new that they don't like just from pictures?
Gun snobs at work I suspect.

Pictures tell quite a bit. They can tell the short cuts made in the stock design, they can show the wood to metal fit (or lack thereof), the quantity and quality of engraving and how it is executed, stock grain, mono blocked barrels, etc.
Cheers,
Cal

Idaho Sharpshooterdpcd,
could just be based on past history, and the true costs in regulating and finishing a quality double...
23 January 2015, 02:53
dpcdI do not judge anything by pictures; I generally like to actually see and shoot them before passing judgement on them. Some are just attached to their high dollar rifles, and good for them. I cannot play in that game. But why start bad mouthing things from a damn picture. That is what I do not understand.
Monoblocked barrels? Really? The horrors of it. I can't imagine stooping so low as to actually own one.

PondoroThe "engraving" on a Blaser cost about 10 euros..

209jonesI'd rather have a Baikal than a Blaser R series. Only thing Blaser built that I like, is the 30R cartridge and the K95, they do a nice job on those.
Will say, this thread went in a direction that was unpredicted.
I vote we give Shootaway the official tester's job on these FAIR Isides, when he goes to visit Cal. I'll send some Black Max to assist him with holding the the O/U barrels to the SXS reciever. I noticed they didn't show just how they did that on the website, either.
