Adams and Co 8 bore

AK_StickAdams and Co 8 bore
I’ve always wanted a true big bore, and after my uncle graciously gifted me a copy of Death in the Long Grass, I was horribly bitten by the double rifle and Africa bug.
Well I was finally able to scratch that itch.
1880’s Adams and Co 8 bore
Thanks to Cal and OmnivorousBob for all the help along the way, just a few more components and she’ll be shooting again, and hopefully afield next fall.
And here it is along side my 1890’s Neumann brothers 8 gauge that I’m having barrels made for as we speak to convert to a 8 bore double rifle, and modern steel shotgun barrel as well.

Omnivorous_BobWell done! I know you'll put it to good use. Can't wait to see it in person.

"PS. To add a bit of Pappasonian philosophy: this single barrel stuff is just a passing fad. Bolt actions and single shots will fade away as did disco, the hula hoop, and bell-bottomed pants. Doubles will rule the world!"

cal pappasFrom the quality of your rifles, it is obvious you had an excellent bringing up and at least one outstanding teacher in high school.
I'm free weekends and evenings when you are ready to use my die to size your balls, reload, and shoot at my home range.
(Somehow that last sentence does not sound right).
Cheers,
Cal
PS. I'm currently fitting my Rodda 4-bore to a case. Bring your case up and we can start the process to fit your Adams to your oak and leather case.
Also, bring your 8 to South Africa in July and let's take a couple of bullalo with our bore rifles.

NakihunterBeautiful guns. True nostalgia.
I'd love to see them rust blued / browned and the wood refreshed like the real old classics.

jens poulsenSerious move to skip all the small nitro stuff and head straight on to an 8 bore rifle. Good luck with load developments.

Thank you, I do have a 450/400 3”, a 9.3x74 and a 45-70 from the brand that shall not be named, but I have always lusted for a bore gun. Shooting Bob’s at the last AK double shoot only solidified that desire.

LHeym500Looks like you need a gun bearer to haul both those beast around.
I volunteer. It is really a matter of safety. You do not want to be wrestling with reloading when seconds count.
