Gerry MerryHome loads with the Chapuis Brousse
Finally I have shot this double with reloads today and here are the results.
All targets were shot at 50 metres off of sticks
Velocities under each target.

Quite a productive start I think. Will load some more of the slower loads and shoot from a more solid rest next.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! dirklawyerGerry, It seems obvious that the right barrel is not going to even be close to shooting parallel with the left. You might try a slower powder? You might try shooting the left barrel first? It might make a difference in the up and down group. Slower burning powders heat up the barrels differently than faster powders, and shooting the left barrel first can definately change the group, how? Give it a try.

400 Nitro ExpressVertical stringing, especially when it's the right barrel pitching up like that, can be caused by an improper rest. Ditch the sticks and shoot from a bench. Hold the barrels in the leading hand and rest the back of the hand on sand bags. You can put your elbows down on top of the bench, but don't use any other support.

PeterI agree with 400 Nitro. Shooting sticks do not provide a level or uniform surface for this kind of testing. Use a bench, then having found the load that has the barrels shooting where you want, test them on shooting sticks.
