August Francotte Conversion
I am posting these pictures for a friend of mine and fellow AR member Phill Pittman. His email said:

Here's the scoop on the Francotte. Its a shotgun- rifle combo. 12ga. for the shotgun and 45-70 for the rifle. It's an unusual setup for the rifle as the damascus barrels are fully steel sleeved.

I am in the process of having it rechambered and reregulated to 45-90 to squeeze a little more out of it an not increase the pressure by going to a larger case. I think I can still fire 45-70 in it ala 458 Win,- 458 lott.

This is an old gun but high quality ie. Purdey double bight;bolt with Greener cross bolt, Anson fore end;release, auto ejectors ,deeply relief engraved fences , file cut rib, tatsefull engraving, silver oval, 28 lpi checkering etc.

No I don't delude myself into thinking its a cape buffalo gun . But it will put the hurt on N. American critters at close range plus it looks to be a good shotty as well.

So Phill - you awake up there?

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.
