Krieghoff Engraving
Hi folks,

I'm trying to decide on an engraving pattern for a Krieghoff classic, and was wondering if you could post pictures of yours...even if its the standard? I think I prefer a simpler pattern, but then again a game scene could be fun.

I need some inspiration, any photos would be appreciated!

Not that I have one but I like deep relief engraving on those guns. I think it suits them. Easier to find examples on shotguns.

Thanks for the reply! I think I agree with you, I was looking at some fine scrollwork on a Krieghoff and it was very well executed but seems to get overwhelmed on these guns.

My thoughts exactly. I also think it goes with the heritage of the rifles from that region. And shotguns!

Have you ever seen Ryan Shallom of Untamed Tanzania's Kreighoff double? Mating bunnies... funniest engraving I think I have ever seen! Not that I would recommend it...

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I have one in 9.3 that came from Germany and it is dead plain and I like that. I also have a 450-400 with engraving on it; like that too.
Engraving does not improve performance.

I like some engraving on guns with two-piece stocks and large steel surfaces at the action. Not only can it look good but provides a reservoir for oil to combat fingerprints and rust, though plain lever actions and pump guns seem entities without it.

I would get some on my funeral-grade Heym 88 PH but worry that there might be hardness issues and it might cost even more than the $3000 Heym were charging when new.

I've seen that gun before dpcd, it's lovely! How much does that rifle weigh and do you find it comfortable to shoot in terms of recoil?

Any chance you could post a picture of the 450/400 to see the engraving? I'm really torn between the standard border and a game scene.
