MJinesSearcy .470 Regulation Load
Do not have a Searcy .470, but trying to find out what his regulation load is for the .470. Any one know?

mstarlingCall Butch. When I asked him, it depended upon the serial number of the rifle. The previous answer is in the range but the load does differ from the Field Grade guns to the newer ones.
He had loads with IMR 4831 and RL-15 for mine. The RL-15 loads require a filler but have less recoil which is a plus.

ROSCOEBoth of mine are regulated for 89g RL-15. One is a field grade and one is a Deluxe. Both are several years old. I believe this should also duplicate the Federal Load.

465H&HThe first 470 I got from Butch was 10 or 12 years ago. It was regulated for the above quoted RL-15 load. He built another for me a year ago and it is regulated for the 106 gr IMR-4831 load. Since I normally hunt elephant in March or April in Zim where it is hot, it is usually quite cold here in February when I am checking my rifle out at the range. Consequently, I have gone to using H-4831 since it is less temperature sensitive than IMR-4831. A load of 110 grs of H-4831 gives me 2,166 fps and an added bonus is that shoots smaller groups right to the top of the bead at 50 yds.
