Finally sent my Sabatti back
Finally got around to calling Sidney, NE about returning my 45-70 with the ground right barrel muzzle.
Guy just said, "yep, we have had a problem with them, just send it back and we will send you a refund".
We will see how it goes.

Maybe a nice 450NE or 470NE will come my way some day. Leaning towards the 450NE. Should make a good dark timber Elk gun!!

Glad they did right by you. Did the same for me, Jorge and a number of others.

Sam got a good one without ground muzzles in 500NE. Hopefully you'll be able to do the same in 450NE. Hartley has one and is very happy as well.

Best of luck

Well, Cabelas called today and asked if I wanted credit on my charge card, gift card, or company check.

Don't have the card anymore, so took the company check.

That was quick, as they probably just received it today.

Now, if I can just make it to SCI, but doesn't look like I canFrowner.

Rockrat,
I don't spend a lot time perusing the forums, so forgive me if you have already detailed the issues with your Sabatti 45-70. Was there a problem with how it shot, or did you send it back because of the "ground right barrel muzzle"?

Just curious.....

Had a problem with the way it shot. I didn't think the muzzles were ground as it shot very well at 50 yds. As I went out to 100, right barrel started to open up its group. Thats when I took a close look at the muzzle of the right barrel and noticed where it had been ground.

Rockrat,
Thanks for the additional information. I have handled several of these rifles and own one like yours in 45-70. I have not handled one that had the filed muzzles, but I have seen pictures. All that I have had in the shop, shot very well. Especially, once we worked over the triggers. I try very hard to be objective and separate the wheat from the chaff. Thanks again for the information.

Isn't it amazing how fast a business can take your money, but how slowly they "process" your claim to return it? That's called B.S. where I'm from.

Talked to the gun library manager this week. He said he would get with the "money girls" to see about getting me a check. Would call back later.
No call
Finally, Friday, called the store manager in Sidney, he told me it was lunch time (it was) and he would get it straightened out that day. He asked for my phone number and said he would call back in 1.5-2 hours.
NO PHONE CALL.
Getting close to taking them to small claims court for Fraud!!

When I returned mine many months ago they advised 4 - 6 weeks for the check to be delivered. It arrived in 5 weeks.

Good luck with small claims court... Roll Eyes

Wouldn't continuing to sell a product you know has huge flaws and a corresponding return rate at least be called BS? People spend time talking about the terrible regulation method. And it is a mesmerizingly stupid method.

But what about (among all the other things wrong with these guns) the guy who got a test target with two holes in it but only one barrel would fire? That is not BS. That is fraud. Sabatti knew they were committing a fraudulent act when they pulled the second trigger and no bullet came out--and they then shipped out the rifle and a faked target. And Cabela's still sells this stuff?

These guys are not champs at customer service. They are only nice about it when you catch them red-handed. These sorry Sabatti stories have me wondering what else in their store they are passing off as the real McCoy but know is shit.

And if you think it is just these rifles, you probably think Oksana here needs to become a mail-order bride because hot Ukrainian vixens can't get a date. (Don't worry, the link is safe for work. Therefore, I take no responsibility if she gives you Opto-Wood.)

Considering Alaskans can see the Kremlin on a clear day from their front yard, I am not surprised. Did you canoe there or drive the family station wagon?

Actually it's a bit too far to drive..
Ukraine is exactly half way around the world from here.

Sounds like each store has its own system; the store I dealt with in Dundee was 100% cooperative and helpful and knew all about the problems and were eager to move on in the right direction. I think that I hold USSG responsible for the screwups; not Cabelas. USSG is the importer. Cabelas sold them, like they do 1000s of other products. I doubt if they test every product they sell, but from my experience, they stand behind them all.
I have no stock in Cabelas.

They have been straight with me on all deals I had with them since they opened. Sold them a Rem 40X I bought used in the 70's for 3.5 times what
I paid for it. Most guns I buy I get over the net
but the Sabattis caught my interest and they just
are having a hard time dealing with this guns
manufacturing issues. There is no hard and fast company policy except sell then and take them back if they have to.

I'd be at the nearest Cabela's first thing Mon AM. Myself the gun library manager, store manager, and whomever else cared to join us would be having a conference call with the folks in Sidney. I wouldn't leave w/o a check or cash.

Yes, they are not treating you right; the guys at the Cabelas store I dealt with took care of the complete transaction all within one hour. At Dundee. I would definitely call the corporate office.

It finally came in yesterday. Looks like it wasn't mailed until Thursday. 7 weeks to get here, but at least it finally got here.

Was getting ready to head to our local Cabelas yesterday afternoon, but mail came about noon.

Finally!!

Glad that chapter closed on a good, albeit delayed, note.

Now you need to talk with Ken Buch (Kebco) about a Verney-Carron, Chris Sells (new_guy)about a Heym or MDStewart about a Merkel! Can't let that check sit too long ...
