Tom is "one of us" in the truest sense. He is a solid individual.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of a man so well thought of by fellow AR members. I wish I had known him. I wish the best for his family.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

I will miss Tom and took him on a drive last year at this time to Denver, Co. for the SCI dinner fundraiser. Tom bought a couple of hunts for RSA and while there married his present wife in Africa.

Good hunting Tom,

Mike

My condolences to his family and friends. I spoke to Tom several times about rifles and it was alway interesting conversation.

He posted on a thread I started about 14 days ago that he had original oil bottle for my Boswell. I kept thinking I need to call Tom, but put it off. You just never know.

Tom was a fine and generous gentleman. I shot with him, as his guest, a number of times when I lived in Ohio. He was always gracious and had a wicked sense of humour. May the rain fall gently on him this night.

My condolences to Tom's family, I bought a english double from Tom a couple years back and he was most helpful in helping it get exported to Australia and going the extra mile to help me with this also in email and phone conversations I enjoyed his wit and humour and his vast knowledge on all things firearms,America has lost a true gentleman.

Damn - just read this - somehow missed it before.

Add me to the list of folk that enjoyed many great educational and enjoyable conversations on the telephone with Tom,even though he always "SHOUTED" when he wrote her on AR.

Very saddened by this news.

My condolences to his family.

Just saw this post.
Never had a chance to meet this fine gentleman, or speak with him, but he sounded like someone I would have felt honored to do so.

Condonlences for his family and to all who knew him.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.
