PondoroChange .416 Rigby for DB in .470 NE...
I am thinking about doing this change, but is there really much more performance in the .470 versus .416...?
Should I go for a .500 NE insted...?

GanyanaWhat are you planning on Hunting?
If elephant...I would choose the .500 over a .470 - But personally I would stick to the .416 since it has more penetration than either of the bigger two.
For Buff....500 beats .416
for lion...416 is more effective (given the correct bullet selection) than either of the bigger two. Of course, if you are using a single shot and can play with different bullet weigts and velocities, then the .500 is far more versitile than either the .416 or .470

465H&HI agree with Ganyana if your comparing RN solids in the 470 and 416. if you are using FN solids then the 470 will equal or nearly equal the 416. In either case you will have more than enough penetration for elephants.

N E 450 No2Well for me, the way I like to hunt, a double trumps a bolt rifle every time.
I would prefer my 9,3x74R double, to ANY calibre bolt rifle.

Yep, I would.
What Ganyana said is spot on with reference to game hunted and caliber choice.
