New Chapuis Range Report #3 - I have a plan!
Episode 3:

Work, weather, and family biz kept me away from it for the last 3 weeks, but today we got back on it.

First, thanks to Jimatcat for sending a box of S&B 286 grain factory ammo to try.

NE 450 No2 suggested cleaning the barrels thououghly. Did that.

dirklawyer and ROSCOE suggested magnum primers, and 450 NE No2 suggested more of the 65/4831, so that was our main test (50 yds):

Trying Jimatcat's donated S&B (50 yds):

So here is my plan:

Dale has offered: "We have decided, if it is ok with you, to build you a new rifle rather than have you wait for repairs on the old one."

This thing is taking a ride on the brown truck back to Minnesota Monday morning.

Unless, that is, as Brad Hawkins said "I know at least two people who would take it off your hands...myself included."

If anyone here needs a new project to increase the frustration level in their life, PM me or e- me LRH270@hotmail.com before Monday morning and you can have it for what I have in it. That's at last year's group buy price, but remember there's a set of 20 guage barrels too. It really does make a sweet-handling light shotgun.

And, thanks to all for the advice/guidance/tough love.

We also shot the other Chapuis we got at the same time today for the first time; look for for "Range report - the OTHER Chapuis" posting shortly.

Sorry to hear that you have to wait for another rifle...but I am glad Dale and Chapuis are making it right for you...that goes a long way in my book! It is also great to hear that the other rifle is working properly. I know that has to be a relief!

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! 'What the hell could possibly go wrong?'

Jim-

They are just IC/mod barrels, it never occurred to me that they might not be suitable for steel shot. But I never shoot steel in 20 anyway, only 12.

If you sent me a pm I deleted it by accident.

Les
