DoubleDonSaw that one. Ported barrels on any gun kills any interest for me. Especially doubles! Just my opinion.

RockdocThat’s the full load! But man, that’s a heavy rifle.
The owner and the butcher should be horse whipped for porting a fine double rifle!

RockdocActually, subject to inspection, probably a good buy.
And no pesky ejector noise when amongst the elephants

Wonder where the rear sights went?
DRSS
Well, after deafening the ele's from the porting, it probably would not matter if it had ejectors!

cal pappasOne gets what one pays for.
Ported barrels regulate it to boat anchor status.
However, cut the barrels two inches, re- regulate, and it will be acceptable. May be worth a try.
Cal
PS. Ported barrels are the Janet Reno of the double rifle world.

You didn't like Pato's A&N .450NE then ?
I must admit it is a shock to see, there was a 500NE on here years ago that some one had fitted a strange recoil set up onto !

Heh...... +1 :-0
- Cut the barrels back, then front sight ramp is gone, then you have an 11-1/2lbs 22” carbine needing reregulation
- heavy corrosion/pitting on exterior of barrels.
- heavily frosted bores
- screws boogered
- checkering on forend AFU job of recut
- rear sight leaves gone.....WTF?
- dolls head loose fit shows rejoint, OK, but not now as strong as new so might shoot loose sooner.
- where is a picture of the barrel flats and proof marks?
Great classic calibre, but a wholly handloading proposition unless Kynoch ammo is available.
Good “beater” for Africa, but IMO price -vs- condition is not realistic.
My 2¢

What a shocker!!! No barge pole is too big for that POS.......
The things some people do to fine English guns......
Shameful.........
Cheers

I’ve held this gun.
Thought long and hard of any way to justify buying it and just had to pass.
Barrels are 24” and the porting goes back quite a way from the muzzles so close to 2” needs to be chopped if one wanted to go that route making a very clubby rifle in the end.
There are also some pretty significant pits on the barrels which won’t strike out so will need to be tigged if the buyer wants really nicely finished barrels.
It is (was) a great, stout dangerous game rifle and those Boswells with the best house style engraving are super cool.

jens poulsenAdding a new set of barrels one can have a nice rifle for a fairly amount of money and a lifetime use.
DRSS: HQ Scandinavia. Chapters in Sweden & Norway
New barrels fitted in the UK by a name maker would make this prohibitive!!
Cost would be much more than the price of the gun.
I’ve looked at many similar old English doubles in poor/non original condition
Every time I did the math, it just wasn’t viable....
Bit the bullet so to speak, and got a new WR made, best decision
I’ve ever made!

twobobbwanaPoor old girl.........look what they've done to you.
"Rode hard, put up wet" and then defiled.
Couldn't bring myself to do it.

Tim CarneyHmmm. Reckon the numbers won't add up to justify new barrels. How about tig welding the ports and doing the necessary clean-up on the rifling afterwards. Is that even possible, much less sensible???
