Can someone here tell me how to deactivate ejectors?
On my Demas boxlock. Remove the springs, yes?

Notice you are from Texas. No offense intended, but if you have to ask about how to work on a quality double, I'd suggest you call Dustin Mount (713-868-2209) if you are in the vicenity of Houston, or Kirk Merrington (830-367-2937)if you are close to San Antonio. With an appointment, I suspect either would be able to remove the springs while you wait, and both have neat projects around their shops that are worth seeing in various stages of progress. Someone else could likely point you to a qualified source(s) near Dallas/FW.

To add to what Emory had to say, once you get the springs out of the forearm iron, label them right, and left, because the ejectors have been filed to TIME them and with the springs reversed sides,for side, when re-installed, may not time as well! Same goes for any spring removed from a double rifle that is one of a pair for the other side.

Why? Just put a hand over the breech as you open the barrel. The cases will eject and be stopped by your palm.

Why? Because I can.

I had to have ejectors but I'm coming back 'round to extractors.

So far Mac's advice is spot on. As for the admonishment on any attempt at all, it's just a gun, not a nuclear reactor. Wink

Don't consider my suggestion an admonishment - I was suggesting alternatives if you weren't confortable launching into what appears to be a pretty nice rifle. I made my double into an extractor for a couple of weekends a few months ago and that was useful to determine I like the ejector better. I fortunately kept track of left/right springs in my parts trays without any insight that has the importance Mac explained. On mine at least, I had to dress screwdrivers with a point file for every single screw to avoid buggering the slots on 80 year old screws.
