Beretta doubles
Just out of curiosity....

Does anyone here own a Beretta double rifle? I know they are quite spendy....and not all that common. But I figured at least one AR member would own one.

If so, speak up!! I'd like to hear anyone's experience with them.

When I inquired in 2007 I was told the unengraved model was $40K.

I sent it to Butch last week to have both firing pins replaced, as well as a set of spares made. I hope to have it back within a month or so.

The Beretta 455 and it's EL and EELL iterations is an elegant DR. I've always lusted for one and have found 2 used ones in the past, for $45K and $55K. I believe the EELL is well over $100K new.

George Caswell of Champlins told me some or all (don't recall which) were built by Farmars/Abiatico & Salvinelli.

I have an A&S/Farmars sidelock - for sale with George now - and it is a hell of a nice rifle. Mine is in 375H&H.

Most of the Berrettas I have seen have been a little on the heavy side, but the A&S I have is a trim, light rifle, with a weight of ~8.5lbs, iirc, which is perfect for a 375. I wonder if Berretta specified a little heavier weight.
