470EvansRigby Rising Bite 470 at Julias
I'm curious what you think about the picture of the muzzles?

McKayI would think it has been re-regulated and someone did a pisspoor job cleaning up the left over solder? Hard to see for sure as I am looking at the pics on my phone. Don't think I would be to worried about it. Would probably shoot it to make sure it is regulated well than have a good smith clean it up and possibly file the wedge flush.

470EvansI think it's been rebored to a 470. Serial # puts it in the 450 3 1/4 date range.
Also note the importer. Westley Richards Springfield, MO. Lot's of fishy things went on at MO gun shops specializing in vintage firearms then.
I'm curious to read Julia's description when it comes out.
Pretty sure that one has been re-bored and that would be a huge concern depending upon price point. It lacks period correct proof marks and most Rigby Rising bites I have seen were in .450 3&1/4", not .470NE. Front sight is mucked up as well, possibly cut. I see no ramp in the picture. I would want to look that one over REALLY close before bidding.
Looks like 470 Evans and I were typing at the same time and see the same thing.

cal pappasLots of questions on this one. The muzzle looks rat-assed. It's a shooter.

Dulltool17I'm no smith, nor can I even begin to be able to afford a double. That said, I did a far better job on my grandfather's Stevens 325 when I was 14 years old.
