Bill CooleyCal so now are you are looking for a replacement? Champlins has a Manton & Co. 8 Bore Express and I looked at a 8 bore Thomas Bland at the Tulsa gun show.

mdstewartCal,
I love your compassion for double rifles, but that 4 bore is just something I cannot do. I'm not a wimp, but I also set my limits on size and pay back, whether it comes to women or double rifles.

I know the 8 at Champlin well. It came from Alaska. I want to replace the 4 with a 4.
MDS:
I find more enjoyment now with double rifles than with women. The 4 is doable--Blue Dot loads recoil far less and I'm flexible on trades or time.
Cheers, Gents.

Blue dot is totally doable. I've shot Cal's 4 a number of times. I've also shot it with the full power black powder load. That's the only time I've ever had a trigger guard hit my middle finger! That said……yet again the blue dot is very manageable.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.
-Seth Peterson
