.44mag double rifle conversion
Wrapped up this .410 to .44mag conversion today. The owner is using it for close range Black Bear hunting in the East and Southeastern US. He wanted it SHORT, light, and built as a no frills piece. The rifle boasts 18 1/8” barrels, weighs 6lbs 2oz, and uses a peep rear sight with a front sight that has a larger bead that flips up in front of the smaller bead for whenever desired. The barrels were also Cerakoted black by 903 Tactical, a first for me to do on a double rifle!

Wow do have any picture of the groups it shoots.

What weight bullets and velocity is it regulated for.

It would be about perfect running bears with the hounds gun.

Nice.
Definitely a purpose built tool!
Should do the job.

What muzzle velocity and bullet weight was used for regulation?

You are correct! I had one on a 20 GA BSS action with 18 in barrels chambered for 41Mag used for following bear and cougar dogs in New Mexico a few years ago, and I wish I still had it,

Aaron Little does some fine work for sure!

The gun is regulated for Sig Sauer 240gr V-Crown JHP. The box states 1300fps, which I’m sure is measured from a shorter revolver barrel.

The gun puts two shots right next to each other just touching at 30yds.

Very cool and no nonsense. The cerakote looks nice and practical for the intended use.

That is sweet! What shotgun was used as the basis for this build?

PLEASE tell us that you've kept a photo record of all your DR work over the years?

You can add about 200fps to the velocities above out of a carbine barrel.

That's what I have found over the years shooting 44 carbines.

The owner took delivery of the double and has shot it many times. Looks like I’ll be doing another conversion for him.
