375hnhAnother newbie question
Any insight on a rifle labeled "army Navy CSL London"? 470 NE. This is for sale on auction arms, and the seller doesn't know the manufacturer. Some how he has determined that 24K is a good starting price.

This rifle is a Webley & Scott A & W C Model with intercepting sears, built for Army & Navy. The Webley serial number on it is 12,330, which is stamped on the left side of the fore-end loop. The Webley A & W C was one of the very best of the pre-war British boxlock double rifles.
This particular rifle has been very professionally redone and is in lovely condition. However, I don't consider the bores to be excellent. Maybe good, but not very good. Were the bores excellent, $24k would be in the ball park. As they are, I think $15k is closer to fair value. This rifle has been with a local dealer for some time and they may be having trouble moving it, hence the Auction Arms listing. They've been asking $24,500.

ShowbartCollectors doesn't disclose that it's been restored, do they? They're so freakin' high on everything and they still sell alot of guns. I thought it was worth no more than $20K until 400 Nitro's feedback. I'd certainly agree with his figure on the price.
And they keep moving it around the gun sites. It capped out at $18K on Gun Broker, now it's on Auction Arms. Next it'll be on Guns America, for how much, $24.5K!. Nobody'll see it there, GA is now useless. Don't even have a DR category anymore. I griped and they said it was coming back. That was weeks ago.
