Crummy Hornday Blems!

I tried my first shots with those Hornday 400 grain DGX bullets this morning in the Hollis 450-400. I used my usual 63 grains RL-15 that I worked up for Woodleighs and gave it a whirl.

50 yards from the bench at Bayou Rifles. I was pretty pleased with 3 of the shots, but that one flier has just left me puzzled. I don't think it was me, it must have been the bullet. I guess that's what you get for buying blems for range practice. Shouldn't this old gun do better than 1.9 inches at 50?

How about lucky. This gun is incredibly non-finicky with 400 grains bullers. Still trying to dial in a reliable 300 grain plinker. Bob

Bob,

As we discussed at the range, I would print that load and call the load development process done. The next thing you need to do is go buy another three or four pounds of that lot of RL15.

Nice shooting. All you need now is some of those big red stickers.

Yes, a bit like blaming "blem" bullets when you are buying "blems' to save money then criticize them when you get a flyer.

If you want perfection, buy the real deal or live with what you buy.

In any case, that target is better than most could produce anyway.

500N, this is American dry humor. I'm thrilled with the gun and how it shoots. I couldn't ask for a better group. Just a neat deal that we found some cheap 'seconds' to play with at the range. This gun is as close to perfection that I could hope to find. Bob
