My first double.
I have been to Africa on several occasions and have plains game and 3 buffalo. I finally broke down and bought a very nice used Searcy double in 470 Nitro for my next trip. It is as well built a rifle as I have heard. I am pretty pumped up aboput going to shoot it but want to reload some for practice. I am looking for some dies and shell holder in excellent condition if you have an extra or unused set around.

Hey, congrats on the new 2-holer! If you contact Butch with the serial number, he probably has a record of the original load for which the rifle was regulated. Might save you some time and effort.

Thanks, I sent an email to Searcy to inquire hoping they have the information.

You should get a copy of the book,'Shooting the British Double Rifle' by Graheme Wright.
It'll help you to understand the basics and there are loads for many of the calibers.

If you shoot the rifle the same way the guy that regulated it and butch has the load used to give to you, you don't need books or chronographs, or a ouija board.

Just shoot it.

El Juero,
I haven't received an email from you yet. But send me one with the serial # and I'll send you the load.
Depending on the serial # Bronzepig is right on with the load.
When anyone has questions about my rifles, loads, accessories, etc. do not hesitate to email or call, I promise you will get taken care of.

Pat...glad you found a good double, even though we couldn't reach terms on the Chapuis.

I suggest putting a WTB ad in the Classifieds for the dies, brass, plus other reloading needs....it works.

Good shooting!!

If anyone doubts the quality professional customer service of Searcy Rifles they should put that aside. I called and Butch Searcy asked me to send the rifle to him for a thorough cleaning and upgrade to current manufacture standards. Cost me the shipping. What a guy and company. No one ever seems to discuss after purchase care and customer service. Any discussions about which double to choose should include Searcy's customer service ethics. Thanks Butch!

I agree with El Juero. There's real value in being able to pick up the phone and talk directly with the guy who built your double. At this price point, I can't think of anyone else who offers this.
