My new pet.
Bought it from a friend in SA. The rifle has been in the same Rhodesian family posession for the last 55 years.

When are Hornady going to make .450/.400 3 1/4" brass? dancing

Your double is the same make as my 450/400 3 1/4" even though mine has a different name on it. Webley made douybles for several different retailers.

I have been extremely happy with mine.

HDS brass form Huntingtons has worked very well for me. I have some Jameson brass that looks great, but I have not tried it yet.
Hornady bress should be out soon.

What is the diameter of your barrels .408 or .411? If you do not know it would be a good idea to have it checked out.

I shoot 408 diameter bullets in mine.

Great gun BTW - Love the PHV1 Action.

In regards to the above, nothing wrong with getting it re CCH'd, but one thing I don't like is a re CCH'd action but the rest of the gun left looking "worn" or used.

If you re CCH the action - which I think would look great, then I would redo the rest of the gun as well.

But as it is it looks fine / perfect - or as it should be for a used gun of that vintage.

Just my HO.

500N,
Now you got me into something to consider!
Agree with you that if i go for a new CCH, I have to restore the stock etc also...

While you are getting it serviced. Please clean and degrease the firing pins or the timing of the extractor is off. It appears that is dragging on the firing pins as the rifle opens.

Dustin Mounts in Houston Texas does a great job on restoring old stocks and removing oil.

rusty i think those cuts in the extractor are made to push the firing pins back.

Rusty,

It would be interesting to see if there is any wear on the grooves. If the firing pins are sticking out, by the time the pin slides off the primer and case head, I'm not sure the grooves would be of much use, but they couldn't hurt I guess.
