GeoffM24Chapuis 9.3x74R arrives!
I was able to pick up my group buy Chapuis UGEX today from my FFL. The rifle fits me like a glove. The only option I got was ejectors which I really don't have stong feelings about but I figured what the heck. I can't wait to take her out over the weekend.

GeoffM24Also, is that little regulation block still supposed to be in the end of the barrel?
GeoffM24,
The pictures did NOT come through/attach

N E 450 No2Congratulations. Yes, the block should be sticking out.
What load was your rifle regulated with.
I think you will like it.
I really like mine.

Cute!
Is that a standard rear sight dovetail? Are you considering replacing it?
Now if Chapuis only made a 8 lb. 450/400 .......

Yes that is the factory standard rear sight. I also had Dale send me one of the Chapuis factory swivel mounts but I figured I'd shoot her a couple times as is first to get a feel for her and a baseline.
I hate to admit it but I was suckered (

) into buying one too!
I thought about adding a recoil pad but when I shot it for the first time today I don't think it needs one.
I shot a few 270 Speer, 286 NF FP, and 320 Woodleigh solids. Who knows what the pressure is but I was close to 2300 fps w/the Woodleighs which is what I'm after.
It is personal preference but I hate that rear sight. I need to do something about it.
I may get killed trying to hunt with such a pea shooter but it is such a lightweight and handy thing.
Good luck with yours.

After you use the rear sights in the "woods" for a while you might grow to like it.

RE: "Getting killed using the 9,3 peashooter."
I would agree I do not consider the 9,3, or the 375 H&H for that matter a "stopper".
However I have used my 9,3x74R Chapuis double quite a bit.
Maybe I have been lucky, but well handled it has performed perfectly on giraffe, cape buff, and elephant.
I would want a bigger gun as a PH, but as a sport hunter, I would not be afraid to hunt buff or elephant with it again.
For us "big bore double rifle conservatives" it makes the perfect plains game rifle, in areas where most of your shots are under 250 yards, and can step up to the plate if your big double lays down or you just happen to be far from the Safari car and have the 9,3 in your hands, and see a big buff or elephant.
The 9,3 double has proven to be a most excellent killer.
I would prefer it to ANY Calibre bolt rifle for DG.

Andre MertensYou probably took note of it but in case you didn't, there's some interesting info that came with the test target :
...
shooting distance : 50 m (55 yds)
waiting time between 1st and 2nd shot : 3 to 5 seconds

3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact.
5 shots are a group.
Beautiful. I have one on order, and I can't wait. Enjoy it to the fullest. Michael
