Hard Cast Load for .470 Nitro
A couple of questions.

What is a good Hard Cast 500 grain bullet for plinking with the .470 Nitro. Huntington's sells some or does anyone know of another good supplier or bullet?

Does anyone have a good load worked up that regulates in your Merkel 140 in .470 Nitro?

Thanks in Advance.

Mink and Wall Tents don't go together. Especially when you are sleeping in the Wall Tent.

mstarling casts bullets in 458 and 475. Just PM him and get some samples from him. A good powder to use is 5744 with cast bullets.

I use Western Bullet Company's .476" 500gr FN bullets in mine over 83gr RL15 with a Kynoch foam filler/wad and they do just fine. Now, I didn't choose these bullets but bought 'em along with some other goodies when I bought the rifle.

Shoot me a PM with your address and I'll send you a half-dozen or so to play with.

I am shooting 30 Gr. AA5744, no filler and a 540 Gr. FNPB Custom Cast Lead Bullet with a Muzzle Velocity of 1100 FPS.

Custom Cast Bullets

It has the same POI at 25/50 yds as my hunting load of 108 Gr. H4831 and a 500 gr. Woodleigh Soft or Solid @ 2050 fps.

This is in a Merkel.

I think he now has a 500 gr. copy of the Woodleigh.
