Double rifles in general and irrespective of caliber were not designed to produce the same accuracy as expected from bolt action rifles with much higher velocities.

A 2" group into a target area the size of a side plate at a reduced distance is more than acceptable especially considering that 2 barrels had to be aligned and "glued" together to achieve the desired accuracy.

The shooter should also acquire, through practice, the distance at which the rifle will print to expectation and if not, in spite of trying different loads, may have to send it in for re-regulation.

The main setback with double rifles is the available choice of ammunition especially in older guns which ideally should match the same characteristics of the batch that was used to regulate the rifle at its inception.

I have lots of fun when someone brings a double here and try to regulate it.

Doubles should have gone the same way the dodo did!

I see Mark is still living in your head. It is amazing how much he actually controls you. I mean it's been two years and he is still there. It must suck to have such an obsession and be powerless to do anyting about it.
