ELeetonRear sight preference
What type of rear sight do you all prefer on your DR? Pictures are always helpful but a simple description or manufacturer/model wold also be valuable.

Larry SellersMy choice is going to be a small reflex red dot. But I am putting it on a "trash" Sabatti so it's OK that I am different.

Fo Fiddy NEWhat type of rear sight do I prefer on my DR?
Which ever one has one of the big five standing behind it!
12 February 2014, 10:31
Fo Fiddy NEUh, I suppose that would be in front of it...
But I am quite happy with the shallow V on my VC.

Bill73All my DR s carry the Dokter red dot sight with qd mounts, they work extremely well for me,three DG hunts with no issues at all,my second choice would be a peep sight setup,if neither is possible,I would settle for a traditional shallow v but with a slight notch in the middle to match the contour of the front bead.

ELeetonThanks all. I guess the next question is which peep/ghost is preferred. Is there a particular brand that you like?

ZephyrIf I had the opportunity to have a new DR build I would consider this sight. I have them on all of my bolts.

a.tinkererI prefer the shallow V express sight with silver/plat line or triangle.
The sight that Zephyr shows here looks great.
Not only for the windows and the fiber, but also for the small index notch for viewing the front bead.
I've had several rifles with that minute feature - which has made a big difference in speed and accuracy.

ZephyrI saw a publication recently with a DR that had this rear sight, I use a green fiber optic front sight but you could use a standard gold or silver bead or even a large "night" sight. The beauty of this sight is the ability to see thru

Fo Fiddy NEI do like it as well. If I recall corectly the K guns come with them.

cal pappasI've never used, nor desired, anything but the first leaf of express sights.
I've always shot Winchesters better with aperture sights (back in my single barrel days) but peeps seem out of place on most doubles. That said, I've seed a few from the vintage years that look very nice.
But, these new-fangled sights, well, don't get me started………
