500 Nitro Loads
Anybody have some load info for 500 3inch using IMR 4831 powder pushing a Woodleigh 570 soft? Also would appreciate opinions concerning is there enough case space for the solid W. using IMR 4831? I have some loads worked up using IMR 4350, this seems to be a great powder for the caliber but I'm all ears. If you are using any other powder for this caliber let me know. Thanks

With IMR 4831, I would start at 102 and work up to velocity shooting over a chronograph. With that powder, you may need to use a drop tube, or vibrate the case to settle it.

The standard load for 500NE 3 inch is 110 gr. IMR4831 for the Woodleigh 570 gr. soft. It is not a compressed load and is the correct velocity (in my Searcy). This load will give 2150 fps in the (standard spec.) 26 in barrel.

Oops, had a typo on the powder, corrected to 4831
