Woodleigh Bullets in 9.3
Getting ready to buy some Woodleigh bullets for my 9.3X74R's. Is there any advantage (or disadvantage) to either the protected point or soft nose? Looks like the soft nose has close to the same shape as the solid so that might be some advantage in trying to regulate the gun to shot both solid and soft nose bullets.
TIA

I have used the 286gr Woodleigh Soft and solid with excellent results in the States and in Zimbabwe. They are my favorite bullets in the 9,3x74R double.

I think the RN soft is the better bullet for the velocities of the 9,3x74R.
Gives good expansion on deer sized animals, and good penetration, even on cape buff.

I use the same powder charge with both bullets in my Chapuis.

Geoff McDonald of Woodleigh told me that he recommends the Protected Point Bullets as a stronger bullet for better penertration on the "big for caliber game".

Probably buy them at Midway, not sure anyone else carries them (but then I have not looked real hard)

For the quality you are getting they are cheap at twice the price. HDS also carries them!

The only treditional bullet that even comes close is the Nosler Partition, in a soft point, and the North Fork fl , and cup point, solids!

When you need them to perform on mad buffalo, you won't care if they cost $40 apiece! Eeker

Good to deal with for unusual items.
