I just bought a copy from Cal Pappas. This book is indispensable if you shoot doubles. Cal has some copies left if anyone is interested and he also has his (Cal's) book on the .600 NE for sale.

Wright's book is a must have... a great source of information. I find the BPE and Nitro for Black data especially useful, as there is less information available for these compared to Nitro loads. The "filler" section and information on chamber ringing was excellent!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Thanks for the plug. I am now sold out of Graeme's book. He stopped by for a visit two days ago but did not bring a fresh supply with him. It is the bible of the topic, no doubt.

Cal,

Thank you for the book. It is indispensable. I load for .450/400 3.25", .470 NE, and .500 NE and this book is a Godsend. I'll be picking up your .600 NE book soon, just promise me it doesn't entice me to go off in search of one. Big Grin

Cheers.

The book is head and shoulders above anything else out there. He is a "Been there and Done that" type of author.

Biebs,

my wife got her degrees in Social Work. She reads to me, and she CAN pronounce and explain anything over two syllables.

I was looking in my old (1904) set of encyclopedias just this morning, and you are in there. Old Croatian family name, dating back to the early 1400's. It translates into English as wiener dog breath.

Seriously...

regards,

Rich

Cane Rat:
No promises on the desire for a .600! The only saving grace is so few of them exist. In my book are 33 vintage and 28 modern .600s. I have found another 38 vintage and a dozen modern rifles but the owners of the vintage arms won't give me the time of day--much less photos of their rifles. If they ever do, a second volume will come about. Until then, I'm working on a book of like style and quality on the bore rifles--4 on down.

I also keep a small data base on the 600s and the 8&4 bores that sell. It is interesting how little they come up for sale and the prices they command.

When you are ready for the .600 book, just call or email.
Cheers,
Cal

As Cal has so well written, those really big bores are addicting. Much like heroin addicts; the major difference being that they have treatment programs for heroin addicts!
I got to shoot Big Doggs 700's four bore about eleven months ago at his range. It is a near-religious experience...

Take a look at Brett's post on double rifles to se he and I and my 4-bore Sunday. 14 drams and 1943 grains or 16 drams and 1400 grains. A chiropractic adjustment.
