Notice the horizontal lines on the barrel and action faces. Is this acid etched to show hammer forging as a matrix which they do to meteorite steel. Or it is it a jeweling pattern?

Kebco on the your second photo posts, on the 2nd and 3rd photos I noticed some discoloration on the top of the left barrel/chamber face on pic 2 and freckling on the left top action face in pic 3 they seem to correspond if the rifle was assembled. Is this just the camera?

The horizontal lines on the barrel and action face appears to be a jeweled pattern.

I think the discoloration you are seeing in the photo is a combination of light, oil/grease, dust, and maybe a partial fingerprint.

The marks on the receiver are machine marks. The ones on the back of the barrel are file marks from hand fitting the barrels to the receiver. Hope that helps.

So.....I'm waiting for someone of infinite knowledge to compare these double rifles to the others avaiable......Heym, Merkel, Krieghoff, etc. that's not a bad price for a fine double in a great caliber.

If you are serious about the gun I can provide the name and phone numbers of several people that have purchased similar Demas guns. These are people that already have or had double rifles made by other makers.

I saw them in Dallas and Reno and they are very nicely made. Quite impressive workmanship. They are a great value for the money IMO. I know "Showbart" here on AR loves his 470.

If you do a search on Demas here in DR, you can see previous discussions of them and are all positive.

Now if I only had the money ....

I can't worry about no stinking trial now. My Purple Martin houses have been invaded twice in the last two weeks, at night. By what I don't know. Maybe an owl? Have lost ten babies, and maybe some adults but I don't know.

That picture is a fraud and has obviously been photoshopped. Bill was wearing a pink shirt and would never been seen outside the bedroom in purple. But those leopard print heels are his -- I think he sold another pair awhile back in the Classifieds.

Tom, you're kidding, right? 450/400 is a spectacular cartridge. Client hunters don't NEED a true big bore. That said, I still think I shoulda made mine a 500! Decent price? Now really gimme a break. You have any idea what replacement cost is on one of these in this economy? But, if you must have a 470...I'm amazed that there is still Demas 470 on Gun Broker.

You're darn tootin' Will, I love it. Merkel, Chapuis, Krieghoff and Heym all fall short in one way or more. Heym is an excellent rifle but will cost you at least 20% more, is not as pretty and is light for 470/500 chamberings. That said if Demas didn't exist I'd own a Heym. In 9.3 to 450/400 they are spectacular!

I'm sorry that you didn't get your pimp'n commission for the rifle sale! However I must say after looking at the picture above, that faded pink cowboy shirt don't look that bad on you!

For those who have not seen, held or shot a Demas in person take note. For the $$$ they are fantastic rifles. Very well built and well regulated. They will make a lot of folks take notice once more hit the streets here in the USA. The Heym 88b is a great rifle just as is the Demas however if one is on a budget the Demas is almost its equal in my opinion for a lot less. Consider this brand hard when shopping for a modern working double.

I have held the Demas double rifle. I saw it at the Houston Safari Club Show 2 years ago. I thought it was a well made rifle. I wish it had 26 inch barrels!

Rusty....that is the only "negative" that I agree with.....but I'm sure the buff(s) won't mind! 26" barrels on the 450/400 are perfect IMO.

Dale Nygaard had told me excluding the U.K. there's

some issue in the European nations that makes it

nearly impossible to get bbls longer than 23 5/8".

They really need to get that corrected. I'm glad

to have my 28" bbls, though at first I was leary.

I am certain ftondrus was referring to the front

site design of this DEMAS rifle as a copy from

H&H, not the design of the "locking up" system,

nor, any other part of this rifle, which is very

fairly priced IMO.

Well....all I can say is that pics simply don't do this rifle justice. It is beautiful and very well finished. Wood is just a touch proud and very uniform fit where it mates to the action. Triggers are very similar in let off to Heym and Merkel. Balance is sweet! Something about a double that weighs a shade UNDER 10# and balances well in the hands. Hornady ammo will be here first of the week and dies/brass same. I can compare this firsthand to the Merkel, K-gun and Heym because I have owned or currently have all 3....well the K-gun is a friend's...but seems to live in my safe. The Heym was an older model...had the "skinnier" stock....but pretty much the same as current models I've handled.
The Demas compares favorably with all of them and actually is better in many ways than all of them.
I bought this gun on faith after chatting with some owners of Demas doubles....you boys were RIGHT!
