HELP ON 500NE
Hi all,
a friend of mine here has just got a 500 NE 3 1/4 can he use 3" ammo?

Yes he can, but I wouldn't unless he's on Safari and that's all he has available.

He'll end up burning the last 1/4 - 1/2 inch of the chamber and wearing it out so in the end, the
cases will be hard to extract.

Suggest it's easier to find some 3 1/4" Brass
which is available - just need to look hard and ask around.

Won't the normal 3 1/4" 470 NE brass

be able to be fire formed very easily to

be perfectly useful for this fellow, at least

here in the USA?

Isn't the rim thickness on the 500 thinner than the 470? Or, am I remembering wrong?

500N
I've used 470 Brass in a 500 before so yes, you could blow it out to 500.

Will have to check the Specs to see if it's
the same Rim thickness.

Rusty, they're the same thus making the shell holders interchangable. (rim thickness on both is around .038 to .039)
