Heym Jumbo

Does anyone here have any experience with the Heym Jumbo? I don't own a double yet, but they have interested me since I was very young reading Capstick and Ruark. This seems like a very solid rifle.

Chris (New Guy) had one in the works that he offered me a great price on. It is now sold to someone, and was just finished up. It is in 577 NEand was on display at the DSC this year. Quite a piece. The Jumbo is a sidelock action, and is available in the 600 NE as well. That's the rifle that Ivan Carter had built to replace, or supplement, his aging Heym 450 3 1/4" NE. To say it's a stopping gun is putting it mildly! If you want one, contact Chris and pony up your $50K++.

I have to finish paying off some student loans before a double becomes a reality, but I have always wanted a .577 NE

Verney Carron makes a nice boxlock DR in 577 and 600 HH. Can be bought from stock or made to order...low to mid $20K range. Stout as hell.

He better not have tried to sell you my rifle....haha....I have had that one in the works since Reno of 09'. Had some wood issues then I was slow on making build decisions as well. Seen some poor photos of it and it looks good. Was not able to make reno this year because my wife was suppose to have a baby last week. (still not here yet....arghhh) But my buddies said it looked great.

No, just waiting patiently for the development of the 900 H&H (Howitzer & Howitzer). I've already seen the ammunition...it comes in a "6-Pack" held together with those plastic loops. Must still be in development, though...the cartridge "brass" still said "Budweiser" on the sides!

McKay, your 577 Jumbo does look great. It handles great too.

I have shot Ivan's 600, it is very accurate.

I'd buy a 500 before I'd get a 577. Shoot one first--heck I'd get a 450 3'1/4 before I'd get another 577. I will buy another 577 but it will not be my only double to have. 13 lbs is not bad hoisting it in your living room. packing it 7to 15 days after buffalo and elephant--well just say 3 lbs makes a difference to me. Oh heck buy what you want--I'd did, only way you learn!

As for the Jumbo--man they are nice rifles!
