Case for my Chapuis?

SnowwolfeCase for my Chapuis?
Looking for a simple padded case to hold my Chapuis when it is broken down. Most of the cases I find are 36-37 inches long.
Anyone know where I can find one under 30 inches?
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Charles_HelmAre you looking for a soft case? Boyt Harness has one on sale now that has sizes for 28, 30, and 34 barrels:
http://www.boytharness.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=128[I realize $85 for a canvas case may not seem like a sale.]
Edit: Cabela's has a
hard case that is under 32 inches.24 August 2007, 10:09
N E 450 No2I have been using the Boyt takedown shotgun cases for my double rifles for several years.
The only case that would be better is the Africase takedown case for double rifles, if you can get Aleko to make some more.

SnowwolfeI like the looks of the Boyt case. Thanks for the tip.
Do you guys who own the Boyt like it? Good points or bad points?
If I decide to add a scope will it still fit in the case with the scope on?

N E 450 No2Measure the length of your bbl to the end of the scope. If this distance is less than the bbl length the Boyt case will take it MIGHT fit.
If the length is correct then it depends on how big the scope is.
I always carry my scope in my carry on.
I like the Boyt cases. I use them for my doubles, my Blaser R 93's, my Drillings, and my Winchester TD 1895 in 405 WCF.
I have taken some airplane trips where I used the Boyt cases in an aluminium take down case, removing the foam and putting 2 rifles in Boyt TD cases inside, and I have used them inside a Tuff-Pak.
I use them all the time when traveling by vehicle.

mstarlingAnother vote for the Boyt soft cases. I've used them with a scoped Chapuis and a Searcy. Work well in a Tuff Pack.
If you're going on Safari remember to take a long soft case so you can put the rifle in the gun rack of the Toyota

I have also used a Browning over and under hard case for a DR for travel to/from the field a time or two. Is not as nice as the Chapuis canvas, leather, and wood case but does work.

PeterWhat used to be Cape Outfitters now Jeff's Outfitters has a bunch of hard cases for doubles (rifles and shotguns) at what seem to be very reasonable prices. Call Jeff he is very helpful.

SnowwolfeThanks. I will order the Boyts. I am sure many of you purists will cringe at this idea but the soft case and double will be stored inside a storage box on my ATV!

N E 450 No2If you want a very nice leather case check out one from Murray leather. It is actually 2 seperate compartments, there is no way the 2 halves of the gun can touch.
They are nice.

KM5LAWhat about the Lewis Drake "leg-o-mutton" case? Does anyone have experience with it? I supposed it won't accomodate a scope, though.

RustyBefore you go buy a case read the latest edition of the American Rifleman and visit
AMERICASE and click on the drop test video. Amazing video and most thought provocking.

PeterRusty, I saw that video as well. Quite an education! Now if Snowolfe wants a canvas case, then I am assuming that he will put it in something to ship it. My Kreighoff came with a very sturdy canvas case.

SnowwolfeOrdered the canvas. It makes a great choice for carrying the rifle in the box on my ATV. Plus it can do double duty by putting it in a hard case when shipping it on the airlines.
Thanks for the tips guys!
