<xs headspace>Expensive toy at the Gun Show
Guy had a 22 hornet double rifle on his table, with a $11,000 tag on it. Hey, just the thing for that second fast shot on the charging woodchuck....I guess if you can blow $100,000 on a car then you can waste $11,000 on a 75 yd woodchuck rifle. It was really cute, tho. Just the thing to buy for your teenage daughter, if she already has everything....

Dr. LouHeadspace, what was the make of the rifle? Just curious, I probably won't be buying one soon. Thanks, Lou

skbMy friend has a Manton double rifle in the oh so slightly more useful .22 Hi-power. He inherited the gun and it is way cool.

MacD37For the double rifle collector, the smaller chamberings are the rarest of all double rifles, and if a name maker is the builder, the price goes sky high in a hurry! $11K is not out of line, for a small double rifle chambered for things like .22 Hornet, or .22 LR, by a name maker! It takes just as much skill, and bench time, or more to build a .22 Hornet double rifle, as it does to make one chambered for 500NE! I've seen a .22 lr Holland & Holland go for over $80K at auction!
I would dearly love to have a name double rifle chambered for .22 Hornet! In my case it will have to have my name on it as builder, because I can't afford a name double rifle chambered for .22 Hornet!
................Wish I could afford it, but...

This Sunday at the Middletown,NY GunShow a dissplay of fine firearms by Westerly Richards had a few very appealing and exotic double rifles. They were very ornate and the engraving was great. Odd calibers like 30-30 and a few more. They carried with them a very hefty price range in the neigborhood of 39K and 25K models. It was nice to know the exotics are still out there, just beyong this mere mortal's reach.

<xs headspace>Yup, that was the table. I noticed the Westley Richards 30-30, and a 30-40, but I didn't look at the maker of the 22 Hornet.

Harry (Mims Reed), has a beautiful little .22 lr dougle rifle, with an extra set of 410ga barrels in it's fitted case. wood to die for, and one of the most beautiful double rifles I've ever seen! His comment to me was "I spent way too much money for this thing, but I simply had to have it!" After seeing it hand handleing it, I see his point!
