Bob NisbetMust Sell My Unfired Searcy 470 NE Classic
Before Butch and I agreed on him making me one of his Classics in 470 Nitro Express, I felt like I was in good condition, other than occasional unbearable shoulder pain. Before the rifle was finished, I had been overwhelmed by that pain due to massive shoulder problems, including several rotator cuff full tears.
Before I received the rifle I underwent reconstructive surgery. One quote by my Ortho surgeon was:
"Suturing your shoulder was like sewing a piece of torn paper back together. Don't do anything to screw it up again because I won't be able to fix it again".
Turns out that "Anything" mostly referred to very heavy recoiling rifle shooting.
It's been almost two years and the surgeon's guidance is still in effect, so I am planning to offer my rifle up for sale. I can say I have enjoyed caressing and dry firing some with snap caps, but never did get to fire it. In anticipation of getting the rifle, I purchased a "lifetime" supply of reloading stuff (From an AR Member). I seem to recall the value being something like $1000 or more.
Butch used my rifle as a example of his work and showed it off when he was at the 2011 Reno Show.
I will try to get an ad written up and posted on AR for any of you who may be interested.
p.s. I am allowed to continue shooting my 30 cal and 375 rifle.
Thanks,

D R HunterIt'll sell. The maker has a following, and many buyers willing to be references.

Bob NisbetI was just able to add a link to pictures of the rifle. I'm not much of a photographer, so had to make due with camera on my cell phone.
I can provide more pictures if desired and also have the Fit Chart (in PDF) that Butch required.

Sorry to hear of your dilemma, it must be very disappointing not to be able to enjoy shooting such a beautiful rifle.

Bob NisbetQuestion came up as to which barrel length did Butch Searcy make for my 470 NE Double Rifle.
I looked at the details Butch sent me on the rifle.
It has the 24 inch barrels.

Bob NisbetIn addition to folks asking about the barrel length, I was asked to post the Length of Pull.
I measured it yesterday.
Since I am not sure if I am supposed to call primary LOP the length for the back trigger or the front trigger, so I'll post both:
LOP to Rear trigger is 13-1/2 inches.
LOP to Forward trigger is 14-3/8 inches.
